In den Filmen “Unbroken” oder “First they killed my father” führte sie selbst Regie. Jolie engagiert sich daneben für zahlreiche Wohltätigkeitsorganisationen und ist Sonderbotschafterin der UNHCR, die mit dem Schutz von Flüchtlingen und Staatenlosen beauftragt sind. Sie hat sechs Kinder, wovon drei adoptiert sind.
