This edition of ‚Haiku meets Art‘ is about the musician and songwriter Brian Molko. He was born in Brussels in 1972 into a strictly religious family that initially did not support his artistic endeavors. Molko rebelled against this by wearing make-up and nail polish and adopting a feminine style. His androgynous appearance became his trademark. In 1990, Molko moved to London to study acting. A short time later, he met Stefan Olsdal, whom he knew from school, by chance on the London Underground. He spontaneously invited him to a concert, which later led to the formation of Placebo. Since its formation in 1996, the band has produced several albums. Molko is openly bisexual and addresses his gender identity in his lyrics, which he also emphasizes through his appearance.
